18–20 September: Preview Days – Experience Art Up Close
Art often reveals its full impact only when experienced in person. Before the works featured in the 12th Salvatorian Charity Art Auction find new owners, visitors will have the opportunity to see them first-hand. From Friday, 18 September to Sunday, 20 September 2026, the Salvatorians invite the public to a special preview at the historic Summer Refectory of St. Michael’s in Vienna.
The works will be on view each day from 10 am to 6 pm at Habsburgergasse 12, 1010 Vienna. Admission to the preview is free.
50 Works in the Historic Summer Refectory
This year’s Charity Art Auction features a selection of 50 works by Austrian and international artists. The preview offers an opportunity to step away from the screen and experience the artworks in person, taking in their details, colours, scale and materials first-hand.
The historic Summer Refectory of St. Michael’s provides a distinctive setting for the exhibition. For three days, the space will become a meeting place for art lovers and for anyone wishing to combine the purchase of a work of art with support for people facing difficult circumstances.

Making a Difference Through Art
The Salvatorians are holding their Charity Art Auction for the twelfth time. Continuing their successful collaboration with the Dorotheum, this year’s auction will once again take place online. Bids can be placed until Wednesday, 23 September 2026 at 5 pm.
All proceeds from the auction will benefit Salvatorian social projects. This year, two initiatives will receive support. In Caracas, the education and inclusion programme “Encuentro con el Arte” gives around 500 disadvantaged children and young people new opportunities through education, art, music and culture.
In Timișoara, the proceeds will support the “Maria von den Aposteln” women’s shelter, which provides a safe haven for women and their children affected by domestic violence and supports them as they work towards independent, self-determined lives.
Every successful bid therefore represents more than the acquisition of a work of art. It provides tangible support to people who need it.

The Salvatorian Charity Art Auction has also attracted the attention of the wider art community. Austrian publication artmagazine covers the benefit auction in an article entitled “Kunst zum Schutz” and highlights several of the works on offer.
Among them are Eduard Angeli’s pastel “Kiosk”, a recent work on paper by Michael Kienzer and a circular painting by Robert Schaberl.
The magazine also notes that the 50 donated works offer an insight into contemporary artistic production in Austria.

See the Art, Then Place Your Bid
Anyone interested in one of the works, or simply curious to discover the Salvatorian Charity Art Auction, will have the opportunity this coming weekend to experience the art up close in the unique surroundings of the historic Summer Refectory.
The online auction remains open until Wednesday, 23 September 2026 at 5 pm. Every work purchased not only supports contemporary art, but also helps provide practical assistance to children, women and families in need.
