Whilst the focus of vocations within the international Salvatorian community is increasingly shifting from Europe and America to Africa and Asia, an understanding of Father Franziskus Jordan’s founding vision and the historical development of the Order in Europe remains a central component of Salvatorian identity. Numerous historical sources and documents are held at the Vienna site.
Key tasks of the Institute
The main tasks of the Research Institute are: academic research into Salvatorian topics; publications and articles on the history and spirituality of the Order; supporting students with their Master’s theses and research projects; and providing guidance to Salvatorians, lay people and interested parties on academic projects.
International Networking and Knowledge Transfer
A particular focus is on networking between Salvatorian sites worldwide and the exchange of knowledge with Gurtweil in Germany, the spiritual centre of the Institute and the birthplace of Blessed Father Francis Jordan. Furthermore, the Institute maintains active partnerships with national and international research institutions in order to raise the global profile of Salvatorian history and spirituality.
Events and digital formats
Through conferences, webinars and video conferences, the Institute facilitates the transfer of knowledge in a contemporary manner. These regular events promote academic exchange, provide new impetus for research and teaching, and strengthen the international Salvatorian network.
