Salvatorian Manifesto
We Salvatorians are called to follow the Divine Saviour, Jesus Christ, and to live as a community within the universal Church dedicated to apostolic service. Like our founder, Father Francis Mary of the Cross Jordan, we proclaim to all people the salvation that has come through Jesus Christ. Through our lives and our apostolic activities, all may come to “know you, the one true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3), and have life in abundance.
This mission spurs us on to live out our calling as apostles amongst all people of every background. We are ready to serve all people throughout the world, in every way and by every means inspired by the love of Christ. Trusting in the loving providence, we seek to recognise the signs of the times and respond to them courageously in the concrete circumstances of our lives.
Today, these signs of renewal in the Church and the world urge us to be a prophetic voice,
- by seeking dialogue with people in the communities where we live and communicating the values of the Gospel in a contemporary way;
- by encouraging women and men to live out their baptismal promises by taking on responsibilities and leadership roles within the Church;
- by standing in solidarity with the poor and opposing developments that hinder a fulfilling human life, particularly social injustice, poverty and violence in all its forms;
- by standing up for the protection of creation.
We Salvatorians wish to fulfil our mission in collaboration with the Salvatorian Sisters and lay Salvatorians, and to live alongside the people we are here to serve. In this way, we can make visible in the world the goodness and love of God, our Saviour.
