Charity Art Auction 2026: Art That Brings Hope
More than 50 artists have donated their works to support a good cause. By placing a bid, participants not only acquire a high quality work of contemporary art but also help fund two projects that create new opportunities for children and families.
Supporting Children in Venezuela
One focus of this year's auction is „Encuentro con el Arte“ ("Encounter with Art"), an education and inclusion programme in the disadvantaged neighbourhoods of Caracas.
Millions of people in Venezuela continue to suffer from the country's prolonged economic and humanitarian crisis. Children are among those most affected. Many schools can only operate on a limited basis, teachers are leaving the education system, and countless children are falling behind in their education.
Proceeds from the Charity Art Auction will help support around 500 children and young people. The programme combines education with art, music, and culture, opening up new opportunities for young participants.
The story of former participant Carlos illustrates the programme's impact. After joining a reading workshop, he discovered his passion for ballet. Today, he performs on international stages and earns his living as a professional dancer.
Protection and New Opportunities for Women in Romania
Another portion of the auction proceeds will support the "Mary of the Apostles" Women's Shelter in Timișoara.
Since 2003, the shelter has provided women and their children with protection from domestic violence while helping them build independent lives. In addition to safe accommodation, residents receive psychosocial counselling, support with education and employment, and assistance with legal matters.
Bid Online
The online auction runs from Wednesday, 9 September 2026, 10:00 a.m., until Wednesday, 23 September 2026, 5:00 p.m.
After registering with Dorotheum, participants can conveniently place their bids online. A public preview of the artworks will take place from 18 to 20 September 2026 at the Sommerrefektorium, Habsburgergasse 12, Vienna.
