Patronal Feast, 50th Anniversary of Priestly Ordination and Traditional Flea Market at St. Michael’s
Browsing and Meeting in the Summer Refectory
The traditional St. Michael’s flea market begins on Saturday, 26 September 2026, in the Summer Refectory of St. Michael’s College. From 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, visitors are invited to browse at their leisure and perhaps discover a special treasure or two.
In addition to a selection of high-quality items, food and refreshments will be available. The flea market also provides a wonderful opportunity for conversation, personal encounters and spending time together in a relaxed atmosphere.
On Sunday, 27 September, the flea market will reopen after Mass at 11:30 am and continue until 6:00 pm.
Patronal Feast and 50 Years of Priesthood
Sunday begins at 10:00 am with the solemn Mass celebrating the patronal feast of the Parish of St. Michael. This year, the liturgy will also mark a very special anniversary: P. Peter is celebrating 50 years since his ordination to the priesthood.
From 2002 to 2016, P. Peter served as parish priest of St. Michael’s and, through his dedication and commitment, helped shape the life of the parish and the Michaelerkirche for many years.
A Bach Cantata in Honour of the Jubilarian
The anniversary will also be celebrated in a special musical setting. In honour of P. Peter, Johann Sebastian Bach’s cantata “Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen” (“Praise God in All Lands”) for solo soprano, trumpet and strings will be performed.
The music will be performed by soprano Anita Giovanna Rosati and the St. Michael Instrumental Ensemble under the direction of Manuel Schuen. Zuzanna Mika will play the positive organ, with Lenka Lennerová at the Sieber organ.
Continuing the Celebration Together
Following the festive Mass, the celebrations will continue in the Summer Refectory. The flea market offers an opportunity to raise a glass in honour of P. Peter’s anniversary, enjoy one another’s company and browse the many items on offer.
In this way, the weekend brings together two cherished traditions at St. Michael’s: celebrating our faith together and fostering community beyond the church service.
